Hard to say from what you have told us.

First, are all of your co-workers getting more "face time" with the boss than you? You don't need to be a butt kisser, but you need to have positive exposure to your boss(es).

Has your supervisor done you justice in your performance reports? Do you know what is in them, or in your personnel file for that matter?

When you say you have ideas, do you just suggest them and then let others actually carry them out, or can you successfully take a project from concept to completion?

Lastly, what is your attitude like? Have you become bitter lately and started to complain to anybody that will listen about not getting promoted?

Just a few things to think about. If you are doing everything right, and you are not getting the treatment you feel you deserve, then it's time to sit down with your immediate supervisor and talk with them about a road plan to your promotion. Tell them what you are looking for, and then set the goals you both think you need to meet in order to get that promotion.

If none of that works, get your resume ready, and find a new job!!!!

Good luck.

This is what you get for working in an office. There are clicks and such, and if you are not in there, kissing up, then that could be the problem. I had that a long time, and finally went into business for myself, used my ideas, and made top leader sales, and over $100,000 per yr., that was 17 yrs ago, so that money was worth a lot then. Some people fit in an office, and office politics, etc., and some don't. They are either too aggressive, too pretty, too right, don't kiss up enough, there you go. If you do not know how to play the game, then you do not belong in an office. Good luck. P.S. You could always talk to your boss about it.

Many businesses want someone who's clever enough to potentially help the business make money, but they don't want to give you credit for your advice. Most of the time you won't get promoted because someone over you (boss, manager, etc) is taking your advice, and making it seem as though they came up with the idea. Therefore, you never get ahead because everyone else is using your ideas to get promoted, leaving you at the bottom with no way to the top!

Geri the only way to go about this is to assert yourself. That does not mean go over your bosses head! What you need to do is discuss this with your immediate supervisor first! Be honest and to the point, don't be whiny or shy. Get to the point and present the facts. Your job performance should speak for itself, as well as, your willingness to devote more time and energy to achieve advancement. Point out that you have proven yourself to be a team player and get along well with your co-workers. Simply tell them it is important to you that they consider you for advancement, and that you are willing to continue to work hard to reach that goal. Once you have begun the dialog and expressed your desires, it is up to them to tell you where you stand, and if they consider you a candidate for advancement. Take the first step, don't wait for it to happen. They may have the impression that your just happy where your at. So go for it and see what happens. The only thing between you and a promotion may be the fear to speak up!

In that case, and stuff the employer making a bundle, possibly, from your ideas, and become the team member who, in future, has no idea about anything.

If you feel that you are missing opportunities then you should move on. Make your own promotion to another company.

Brush up that CV now.

Ask them up front as to why you have been over looked. If you are confrontational about it they may see it as a skill that they didn't see in you before. Try it.

your ideas should be in line with the existing trend of market or business ; most of the times , we feel we know everything , which could be an illusion.
