The character Betty just grew in my heart. I am now
a big fan of America (the girl who plays Betty.) It really teaches people that it is more important what one has in their heart rather than looks.

It shows that sometimes the so called "beautiful" aren't really as beautiful when they only behave like they are god's gift to the world.

I didn't think I would like it and yet I really liked it. I was pleasantly surprised. Betty, as a character, was root-able. It had good villains, interesting story line, a challenging business to be discussing with lots of avenues to explore. I look forward to seeing more of this show!!

It was funny and heart-warming too.

In a sea of all the crappy teen shows like 1 tree hill, laguna beach, etc. it's this show about a quirky, spunky, tough-as-nails, yet tender-hearted girl that will be a standout this season.
Remember when "Lost" first came out? How it broke the current conventions of dramatic tv? Now, there are several Lost-type shows. The same thing will happen with Ugly Betty.
Next season, you'll see a lot of shows with a pretty, up-and-coming actress, dressed down to make her frumpy, just so the "transformation" from frumpy to hottie will occur over the course of the season (America was on the Oprah show with Salma Hayek last week. America seems to be the real thing, not a snotty actress).

About the show's name, Ugly Betty. I think it's to catch your attention and maybe you'll watch an episode. I like how the show depicts the "pretty" people as shallow puddles of wretchidness, while showing the "average" people as warm, caring people.

I hope the show stays on for a while.

I think it's a cute show, but I *really* wish they hadn't called the show "Ugly" Betty. She is NOT ugly at all! They could have simply called the show "Betty."

America is great. I saw her for the first time a few years back in "Real Women Have Curves." She was GREAT in it. I highly recommend that movie if you haven't already seen it. She was also in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants ... another EXCELLENT movie!

yeah i like it too. salma hayek is the producer and its really funny the things she put in there, like the novelas that bettys family watch in the show, they are hilarious. "Ugly Betty" first came as "Betty la Fea" meanning " Ugly Betty", its the same plot and so funny! but the spanish version runs everyday, we dont have to wait every thursday to see it.

LOVE it! I think its so great! Its funny and quirky. I hate that stupid girl... she may be pretty but she is clearly insecure. I mean - stealing the rabbit.. holding it hostage and taking all of the pictures. I mean, thats some time and effort. Love her boss- HOTTIE! Its gonna be a great show. Also love the kid... he is so funny!

I refuse to watch it because of the name.
I remember girls in high school that looked like
her and got treated badly. I bet the name of the
show has caused alot of girls name Betty, and that
wear braces to be called ugly. SHAME ON THEM.

i love it... it's one of those shows that you root for the underdog and hope to see her prevail. i like her character's spunk and the fact that she doesn't feel she needs to fit in! it's a show for all the "normal" and everyday ppl like us.
