I've asked this before, but forgot to add details, so I'm doing it again...
Here are some more details:
It's a Dell Dimension 8300, 2.66 gig pentium 4 processor, 1 gig ram. I have no idea what mother board I have, nor do I know exactly how to check. I DO have both regular pci slots and agp slot, but I'm not sure what kind of agp slot it is.
(I'm told that there are 2 - 4x & 8x.)
Right now, I have a BFG GeForce 5500fx card with 256megs of ram.

Is there a way to tell what the slot is without opening the PC up?

It is an AGP 8x, so you can use any AGP card. The problem you are going to have is your power supply. According to Dell, it is either a 250W or a 305W, so make sure when you buy a card it does not say you need a higher watt power supply.

AGP is the one that is longer in length. With that system you will be able to use most any standard Video Card.

Get an AGP card--it works better than PCI

If you have a AGP slot, you can put in video card. It should be fine. Or bring your computer to the shop where you are going to buy the video card and ask them to fix it up for you.

Wow you have a great set up!!!... look inside your computer
where the graphics card goes (back card things) and it should say (ISA slot) or somthing, or AGP(advanced graphics port) (4x 8x 16x ect) or PCI express or PCI express lite
