If you're talking about anniversary presents, those are for people who are married. You're not. Get him something cheap. Plenty of relationships that last a year don't work out in the long run.
1st year married anniversary gift is paper. Since you're not married, just get him a morning newspaper.

I think you mean a first year anniversary of being married. If that is the case then the gift is paper because that is what it is called. The paper anniversary.
