Hi Steve

Yes your tv's will be useless unless you buy a freeview box for each set this will convert them to digital signal. However depending on where you stay you may require a main ariel upgrade to a digital ariel as the on you have is analog.

Glad to help you.

When Analogue gets turned off you can still use your portable tv's but you'll need a freeview digibox or sky because you'll only be able to receive a digital signal... You might have to buy a satelite dish too because your tv ariel will become useless... Don't get rid of your tv's!!

Once the analogue signal is turned off in your area, you will need a freeview box to be able to use your TV. Which will be cheaper than buying a new TV.

I realise that all the money bags with sky or such channels with think freeview is a waste of time. But for a one off payment of ~£20 I think its not a bad deal!!

Why not just get a good HDTV and enjoy an awesome picture with some dolby digital 5.1 sound!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I only paid 500 bucks for my 30" widescreen over a year ago! The HD picture is incredible. Makes analog look like the crap that it is! Digital is the future. And the future looks vividly crystal-clear!!!!!!!! ;-)

Yes it is true - but you can avoid the pain of it - get yourself a 'freeview' digital box, a transmitter and receiver system - plug into your 'main' television and you can receive digital signal to whichever of your portable televisions you wish

You are correct. You dont need to splash out on new tv's though - simply get cable installed and you will receive the new stations that way - or just by a box.

unless you get a freebox for each on or connect your sky up to them then yeah. But the analogue switch off isn't untill either 2010 or 2012. So you're safe for another few years!

By itself, yes it will be useless due to them turning the analogue signals off. However like others have said get yerself a set top box (which i believe the government will soon start subsidising) and bobs your uncle, you're cooking with gas!. ;-).
