Social work is a very rewarding profession. I have learned that if you want a decent salary you really need a masters degree. A masters in social work opens so many doors for you as a professional. A social worker entry level with a bachelors degree can start out around $25,000 + per year. There are some agencies depending on where you live that will start you out around $30,000. You really have to work your way up. It happens. In 4 years my salary has increased by $20,000/year. It is all about the experience. I have heard of some masters level social workers in hospital settings that make around $45-50,000/ per year and that is entry level. If you have a LCSW license the likely hood of making more annually increases a lot. As a case manager with a bachelor's degree you are going to be over worked and underpaid but that is not always the case. If you are looking to make a lot of money then social work is not for you. You have to be in social work with the desire to help people. Go to the National Association of Social Workers web page. They have salary rates posted.
