When you hear about these people with huge pots of money, do you think it becomes harder for them to feel any kind of fulfilment in life. If you can get anything you want, what is there to strive for?

I think they get the unique opportunity to reach outside of their own existance to help others around them. They assist through donations to charity, some actually can afford to go to other countries and volunteer hands-on in clinics and fund-raising.

And you can never get anything you want, because you will find that what you want is something you can't buy like happiness or love.

I don't agree with the thinking that people are 'unhappy' because of their wealth or fame. It is so much easier to get rid of the money or fame than it is to acquire them. I think that if you are happy and want the right things in life, i.e.not drugs and **** like that, then you will be even happier if you had loads of money. The saying that 'money doesn't but you happiness' I think is not altogether correct. By that I mean for examle my situation, I am married with 3 kids, 21, 17, 15; we are a happy family, very close. My husband and I have quite good salaried jobs and my kids are working, at college and school, but it is a struggle to do the things that make life easier, like going on holiday etc. We work very hard and cannot always afford to go out or go away, we do not smoke or go out every week, not to say we don't have a good life compared to some. The point I am trying to make is that if we suddenly had loads of cash then we would be able to go on holidays, go to visit family more often without having to worry about he cost, go out and have some fun, help out friends and family and so on, it would enrich our lives because we would do the 'right' things. If you were rich enough not to have to work then you could make that choice or you could work voluntary or set up a business for someone else to run, the possibilities are endless. Then at the end of the day if you are unhappy because of your wealth...then give it all away...there are plenty of needy people in this country who would be grateful for it!!!!!

I feel sorry for those who are born into money. They pretty much have anything they want/need from a very young age.

I remember the excitement of taking off in an air plane for the first time at the age of 18 (when I had earned enough money to pay for it myself)....People who have been flying since they were babies will never have that!....and there are so many other examples. How can you really enjoy things in life unless you've had to go without them (while working towards them) for so long!
Is that why so many rich kids turn to drugs?...To try to get some of that excitement?

Saying that, it is good to have money, but much better when you know that you have earned it all yourself!

They seem to be enjoying themselves. Some find fulfillment by helping others. And some find fulfillment by partying all the time!

I agree with you. I think too many people think that money will solve all their problems, but when they get it, they feel just as empty. You have to learn what makes you truly happy, and it's not the money.

good question kai, i see many ppl in life with money and it doesnt necessarily mean they are happy many drink take drugs gamble, money brings a little extra freedom, but many of the rich use it in a negative way.

its called the god sized hall,

people coming off really addictive drugs get this too, essentially it mean that they get too used to the best things in life and are looking for bigger and better things all the time,

trying to fill a god sized hall (impossible)

I've seen it destroy so many people! Especially when they are not mentally or emotionally prepared. Some people-not all lose themselves.
