i was a hermit at one time. i went to alcohol and suicide. then was rescued. now i am an english teacher in korea enjoying everyday with my students from the very young to adults. i don't really know why i did it but i'm sure it had to do with extreme environmental depression. if you don't kill yourself tehn hemitism is an alternative option. you reject the the world because your world rejected you. or perhaps it was only because the one you loved rejected you.

Obi-Wan Kenobi, holed up in a cave on Tattooine. After he defeated Darth Vader he needed a break so he left civilization for a few decades. I'm not sure if he still lives in his cave because it was abandoned the last time I checked but I'll stop by later this week and ask him why he decided to embrace the hermit lifestyle.

I know a hermit. It's because some people find it more entertaining to be with their own thoughts than with the thoughts of others.

I met a hermit, hiking around in the cascades one day, he had a tent and about 100 handles of whisky, sometimes people just cannot function in a society, or maybe they just want to drink themselves to death, either way it is a bit sad
