Depends upon the kind monitor you are using. For better viewing plazma screen is the best. I also use the same and had very nice dreams rich in colour. However, doesnt work in day dreaming. I think there is some problem with the light of sun.

I don't know who told you that you can't dream in color but it's certainly NOT true. I do all the time.
There is even a book out about it:
http://www.asdreams.org/2004_hoss_book.htm
Self help mag. offers an article w/this question in fact:
Question
I remember my dreams are in black and white, but I hear people talking about dreaming in color. Are there people who dream in color and can I learn how to do this?
Answer
There is no experimental proof I have seen of this, but researchers agree that most dreams are in color. However, because the dream fades so quickly after we awake, our memories of the dream are often recalled in gray tones. Studies show that those who are in tune with color in waking life tend to remember more color in dreams as well. I have also noticed that those of us who grew up with black & white TV have more black and white dreams. I haven't properly researched this yet, it's just an observation.
When I was a kid, I heard someone talking about black & white vs color dreams. I felt bad because I recalled most of my dreams in b & w. That night I dreamt of thousands of iridescent lizards running along by my room. I was really delighted and tried to collect as many a possible, commenting the whole time about the color. This dream indicates satisfactorily to me that there is color *in* the dream and it's not just added afterwards.
Try the following exercise:
During the day, notice at least once an hour the color of something, anything. My guess is that you will start recalling more color in your dreams.

Although Emery University did a study on this...and in a book The "Interpretation of Dreams" by Max Wilhelm Wundt they quote him saying "memory, is responsible for color in dreams"

Here is a paper done by some college students on the subject that is VERY interesting to support we DO dream in color:

Here is a thread on it in ScienceForums:

I always dream in color, dreams that never happened in reality. I have never dreamed in black and white. What i don't get is how you manage to sometimes control your dreams or fall back asleep and continue the same dream. That is weird. I had always based my belief that reality exists by the knowledge that dreams are uncontrollable. You have thrown that belief out the window. Now I'm not sure whether i am dreaming this reality or living it. *sigh*

There are certain colors that represent something
White = pure, perfection
Red = warning, danger
Black = fear
However, I think the most important things are the content of the dream. Some can project color, but some really does not care. All they remember is dream. Let's say, you think of a person in reality, do you think of him/her in what kind of color they dress in your mind. Most of the times, first thing in your mind is the feature. The rest are not so important. It is the same as in the dream.

I cant remember ever having any dream in B/W. I am a pro photographer/videographer tho, and used to do a lot of artwork in full color. Perhaps B/W dreamers only think in terms of abstract concepts and never really see the color of things like artistic people might.

dreaming colors have meanings, and the situation on it. color red means a long and vigorous life. green color means ability to make money. green grass means is always a good omen in connection with any enterprises in which you may be engaged. and another is if the grass is well kept, luxuriant grass in mellow sunshine predicts to lovers much happiness throughout their courtship and marriage. but if the grass is not in good condition and is parched and full of weeds its the opposite meaning, black color is bad luck generally and white color means a distinction in your community in which where you live. seeing black and white.. be carefull., its a warning., you might encounter some unpleasant situation in your community, but in the long run you will be able to surpass, and hopefully (theres a white in your dream) everything will be alright and admiration to people around you. Good luck

The weak minded try to convince the world that dreams are in B/W (See Tom Cruise....lol, j/k) I have had dereams in limited color may times as you described, but also some in full color. I think it goes to how creative a mind you have.
Yesterday there was a thread/question about lucid dreaming. Check that out and keep yourself open to the experience.
Cheers!!

You dream in black and white and remember it in color? How could anybody know? My dreams are just as real as real life. I can tell if I'm dreaming by shaking my head from side to side quickly. If I wake up, I was dreaming. If I don't wake up, I was already awake.

Most of my dreams are colourful. Is that different from dreaming in colour? I think dreams provide scope for the most free state of mind, such that the blind can see, the deaf can hear and the dumb can shout at the top of his voice how full of colour his dreams were.
