I'm going to say:

cell phones, esp those with camera abilities and cams
*you can take a picture and transmit it anywhere in the world or put the cam on and view a medical procedure in another country!

the internet especially wireless along with laptops so you can connect anywhere with no wires or phone

DVD's and CDS

magnetic radio's, flashlights and other appliances this is becoming a major boom, imagine using these appliances in situations like hurricane katrina where people have no power for a month?

electricity and the ability to generate power without it like with the solar power and windmills, there are actually battery powered lightbulbs now, if we can get the magnetic power into lights that would be even cooler!

Air conditioning is definitely underrated when it comes to it's impact on society. AC enabled previously sleepy tropical backwaters to become bustling centers of commerce. The southward migration from the rustbelt to the sunbelt transformed American society and politics. Cities like Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore etc., would never be the bustling places they are today without AC.
