if it's the white house press core, they've already been introduced. They are selected to be there. Usually a press conference is a scripted event and all parties know who will be there. Generally in times of tragadies, time allowances are not given for formal introductions.

Because members of the press dont really have an identity. No one cares who they are. They are just there representing whatever publication they work for and just need to get the information to report to the people.
