Excuse me? I am not ill and the only condition I have is nearsightedness. I, personally, am offended by the uninformed line of thought you seem to be following. I could not , nor would I, change my gayness any more than I can or would change my shoe size! I do not know anyone who has opted for professional help to "cure" themselves. There is nothing to cure. From where I stand lesbianism is the most natural of relationships. Who knows what a woman wants more than another woman? Read a book or two. Open your mind and don't worry about what does not concern you.

I quit Yahoo answers a long time ago, but for some reason I just HAD to come back an answer this ignorant question. I can't believe people even today would think such a horrible thing such as "converted". I hope the Gay/Bi/Les/Tran's community STRIVES in great pride!!! They are great people who deserve equal recognition in the world and no close minded idiots should interfere with it ever.
Furthermore!!! I believe that the soul has NO GENDER. Would someone be ignorant to think that spirits have male or female genitalia? I don't. I consider myself straight but I admit, I would love to go out with someone of the opposite or same sex...so what, I was born that way and it is no condition. Plus many many therapist are LGTB friendly. the ones who are not, well, they have already failed.

Many of the answers you are getting are hostile. You seem to be honestly curious and possibly in frightened denial, so I won't yell or call names, or point out any grammatical errors.

Simply put, no. You cannot change your sexual identity, be it sexual orientation, gender identity, etc.

People like things that society may not generally approve of, may feel things that others tell you are wrong. Feelings are never wrong, sometimes actions are if they are illegal, but feelings are intrinsic to each person. And whether you believe in some higher power, or just in nature, feelings are universal and, for the most part, unalterable.

Now to speak from a religious, and probably Christian, aspect. Some people believe that being anything but completely straight is a sin. (I don't, but that's a different tale.) They may tell you of programs that boast the abilty to make you straight. These are lies. Almost in every case some psychological damage occurs, and the "success" stories are most likely in deep denial. If you happen to believe that homosexual acts are a sin, those are your beliefs, and I can't change that. The only advice I can give you in that instance is to either seek advice from a pastor at a UCC church (they are open to all types of Christians), and if need be abstain from sex.

But please, don't deny who you are, even if you do not ever experience sex with someone of the same gender, be able to admit, even if only to yourself, who you really are.

God Bless.

So I'm guessing the answer here is a "no" from everyone. But rather than taking offense I'm genuinely interested if there IS anyone who in recent years has tried to chemically change someones sexual preference. I'm not saying it is the right thing to do, but just saying.

Also while I do not view homosexuality as "wrong" or "bad" it is worth pointing out to the people who answered this hostilely that the reproductive organs you have were meant to be used in a heterosexual manor, suggesting that there might be a natural "correct" sexual orientation. Again, I'm not hating or saying it's a bad thing, just reminding you all to maybe be a bit more open minded to why someone might think that way. Seeing as how homosexuals have long been the victims of close minded people.

Have you sought [note correct grammar] treatment for your virulent hatred, bigotry and discrimination? They say it is an illness that is learned, not innate, and a mental imbalance. How many have converted to the right way of living in tolerance, justice and peace? Or were intelligent people able to convert you?

Well i am assuming your talking about homosexuality
but i am a transsexual
and i am going to bore you for a while i only being short so let it slide
i have had to see many GP doctors here in the town i live in as not one of them new anything about
what i am and how to treat it
after i found a doctor that understood what i was going though he was charging something like $50Au every time i seen him that would be something like twenty three times this year for the record not all gender related but still
he also has given me blood test every months that luckerly for me cost me nothing
The doctor then sent me to a psychologist at $125Au per fifteen minutes that was a lot i seen him about eleven times for over half and hour visits you do the math
The psychologist sent me to Brisbane 100km away from where i live to see a special gender doctor costing over a $1000AU manly for my flight i have done that twicw this year
She put me on hormones where i am up to in treatment that cost about $50 per month
and after this has been for about another year
there are many more dolla$ i will fork out for surgeries hair removal beauty products etc
so i take you do not really understand what it is to have to live a lie for most of your life and have to fix it
In stead of being such a @ss wipe
think before your ask such stupid questions

I'm sorry Ms. Mary, but are you God? Or, did someone appoint you to be the saviour for the world, and didn't tell the rest of us?

Who are you to judge what is the "right way of living"? I am a gay man, and proud of it. I also happen to be a morally conscious, non-promiscuous person who lives by the golden rule- to do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I am indeed living the "right way", regardless of my sexuality.

Gay people were made this way by our creator... no matter who each of us believes that creator to be, wee were made this way for a reason, and it is not our place to question why were made this way, much less to call it "wrong".

Homosexuality is not an illness, and in most cases, it is not a lifestyle choice. Please look for answers in real science, as in genetic predisposition to be homosexual. By the way, homosexuality has been removed from the official lists of illness, making it illegal for any doctor to diagnose homosexualtity as an illness, or to prescribe any treatment or medication to "cure" it. You can't fix what ain't broke.

just thought you should know, O Fount of Wisdom, you meant "Have you SOUGHT treatment", and the word is "womb" not "whomb". And perhaps you should try "living" life for yourself, and letting others, who have not "seeked" your help, live theirs without any "help..." from you.

Why is it, when people try too hard to mask their real feelings regarding homosexuality they usually try to sound knowledgeable and end up sounding uneducated, ill informed and down right ignorant?

I have never "seeked" anything, be it answers regarding sexuality, why the sky is blue or my lost car keys.

I, however, have "sought" to enlighten my mind, expand my knowledge, and accept people for who they are rather than judge them on something i might know nothing about.

So my question to the ask-er of this question is......

Have you sought professional help for your lack of tolerance, prejudice, and inability to let people live the life they choose rather than the one you think they should be living?

the only one i comprehend of that opposes all scientific scientific care is Christian technology. Scientology (which isn't a faith in any respect yet a faux cult designed to swindle people out of their money) opposes scientific scientific look after neurological problems alongside with upload, autism, and melancholy, yet they're fantastic with scientific scientific look after actual well-being. Jehovah's Witnesses are against blood transfusions yet have not any difficulty with drugs different than that. The Roman Catholic church is against man made strategies of birth control (ie, the pill, condoms) yet in any different case is in desire of scientific scientific care. basically 10% of practising Catholics particularly stick to the coaching on start administration, BTW.
