Does anyone else think it's weird that when you go on maternity, you only get 50% of your wages. Shouldn't the father's contributions to EI top it up? I mean it takes two to make and raise a baby, plus then the guy could take leave too, or choose to donate his 50% to the mom instead. I just think it's dishonest of the government to deny both parents the same right to be with the baby together instead of one or the other. If it must be one or the other, the benefits should pay to the parent staying home.

I agree, that does stink! Both mom and dad should be allotted six weeks with their new baby! If not then their pays should work out so the one staying home can get 100% of their pay until they return to work.

You had nine months to save money. The government is not your caretaker. Can you imagine how much that would cost?

Take some responsibility for your life and teach that to your child.
