When you press the trigger a cocking piece hit the based of bulletg igniting the gunpowder in the shell which explodes and the expansion of the exploding mixture releases the bullet head made of lead with lot of energy. Thus the head gets the momentum and the barell of revolover has spiral grooves which give the direction to the head with velocity and head moves in the direction spiraling with less friction of air.

to hit? to hit what? to hit the target? a force is applied to the bullet from the exploding powders accelerating the bullet forward giving it momentum which hurts like hell.
