I was in your situation not long ago. I had my son 3 months ago. I always had BH contractions. Then one night before I was going to get induce I felt like I was have menstral cramps. they woke me up at 2am and then I started timing them. They were 5 min apart by 5am and I went to the hospital. The doc said I was ready and I would deliver by noon. He was off by about six hours....But anyway... they were way different than BH

The insomnia is a normal thing in late pregnancy, and then you just sort of drop to sleep like somebody pulled the plug.
The contractions are a precursor to labor- but how far off that is is anybody's guess. When you feel the contractions, get out and take a walk. If you can walk off the contractions, you aren't in labor. The back pain is partially due to the contractions and partially to the pressure of the baby. A lot of ladies get a burst of energy right before labor starts, which is what I did. I cleaned the entire house, top to bottom, cooked like there was a famine coming, and got really irritable because I wanted to scrub walls and couldn't get high enough on the step stool.
You will not have to ask if you are really in labor- corny as it sounds, you will know. For one thing, the contractions themselves will get really strong and nothing you do will affect them. For the back pain, get a worn out tennis ball, and put somebody to work rolling it around on your back until you find just the right spot.
As a general rule, contractions that are in front only are toning contractions of the uterus and aren't usually painful. Labor contractions on the other hand, get your attention. At first they are pretty mild, but by the time you are ready to go to the hospital, you won't have any sense of humor about it at all. Just stay relaxed, and walk. Trust me- labor won't sneak up on you without you noticing, when it happens you won't have to ask.

Sounds like you'll be going into labor very soon if not already. Sort of happened to me the way you described. Next thing might be a tinge of blood or your water will break. That happened to me just standing in the kitchen. But I think you'll be on your way really soon. Good luck and have a healthy baby.

Week 39 : The bones in your baby's skull are ready for birth. They can slide over each other and overlap, allowing the head to pass through the cervix without damage.
Signs of pregnancy during week 40 of being pregnant - Only around five per cent of babies arrive on their due date, 80 per cent come within two weeks either side.
You might notice less movement from your baby because there's little room for her to move about. If you have varicose veins, they might become more pronounced as the pregnancy hormone progesterone relaxes the blood vessels, and because there's more weight on your legs and more blood circulating around your body. Your baby's head will 'engage', meaning it drops down into your pelvis. It usually happens two to four weeks before delivery in first pregnancies and just before labour in subsequent ones. Once your baby's head has engaged you will feel less breathless because your lungs have less pressure on them. You may need the toilet more often as your baby is now pushing against your bladder. By now you're probably feeling impatient and are keen to get the birth over. Signs of labour are the mucus plug coming away, contractions and waters breaking.

I had BH contractions for months with my first one and not so much with the second one....there was some cramping with them but i knew that it was nothing serious....but it was when i got closer to my due date that i was feeling them more and a little bit stronger....you are close to being done but if it worries you that much you should talk to your doctor about it....if you have not lost your plug then i would not be too worried....it is also good to practice your breathing with it....as far as lose of sleep you are just getting nervous for the big day nothing to worry about either...good luck and CONGRATS!!!!!!

Shes simply getting competent. Its a well factor. For the following week or so you'll be able to be peeing a LOT extra. Its referred to as lightening whilst the child drops down into your pelvis which feels like thats what yours is doing. And being dilated and effaced does not relatively imply poo until you get in there and matters begin progressing. I used to be eighty% and one million whilst I went in for my first daughter and it took her 18 hours to make her debut look on the earth!! Good success and congrats for your new addition!!

Well by the sounds of it you are very close as when you suddenly can't sleep anymore and you feel you need to clean the house and stuff means you are starting to nest which mean prepare for baby. If you don't feel comfortable with pain you should go to the doctor and he will check to see if you have started labour

Sounds to me like u are in labor already! However the first phase can last hours if not days. Id say if they get harder and mpre painful go to the hospital. ur far enough they just may break ur water and go from there.

Start timing those contractions. Call your doctor or midwife and tell them. I think you are very close to having your child. Any spotting? Lower back pain? Do you feel you need to clean your house. Have good luck with the birth and welcome your child to this world. CALL YOUR DR.
