QUESTION:
"A winch at the top of a 12-meter building pulls a pipe of the same length to a vertical position. The winch pulls the rope in at a rate of -0.2 meters per second. Find the rate of vertical and the rate of horizontal change at the end of the pipe when y=6"

Please show me how to do this. Thank you.

Look at the following link

When y = 6, 12-y = 6 and x = 12 cos 30

Thus s^2 = 36 + 108 = 144

s = 12

ds/dt = - 0.2 meters per second

Plug these in and solve for dy/dt
