A hero is an ordinary person put into an extraordinary situation, find one of those and your on your way. Sounds like you may have some self-esteem issues if your 'longing' for that type of recognition. There's a bit of a hero in all of us, so just be yourself.

Hero is a term that is not limited only to those extra-ordinary individuals that have power nor to those people with cute and amazing costumes. We, in our simple ways, could be a hero.

Those people who save the victims of Sept 11, 2001 terrorist attack incident are heroes on their ways. They served and saved others even it cost their lives.

Being a hero is being selfless in helping others even in smallest things.

create some sort of mechanical monster that will take over the world and is indestructible save for some secret weakness that you programmed into it and that only you are savy to, then unleash it in a big city and after the military has failed you could come out single handedly and destroy it, and then you would be a hero

raise your children to be decent, caring, non-judgemental people. treat people the way you wish to be treated. that to me is the mark of a true hero. a hero does spectacular feats to aide mankind. nothing will aide mankind more than passing around a bit of love & kindness. maybe some of it will put a spark in another person. remeber "pay it forward"? it can actually happen. all it might take is YOU!

Dear Friend,
Everybody who works with pleasure and is honest and altruist is a hero. When you get up at 6:00 a.m. you are killing the Hydra of Lerna, when you get time to play with a poor child, you are Shimshon destroying the temple of the philistines. When you arrive at your home and call up your parent to say good night, you are Perseus killing the Medusa and rescuing Andromeda.

Save someones life, become a fireman or police officer. They are cool and I respect them. But for just "being a hero" Id go for the fireman.

Do something really stupid, save a live of someone or some thing, and don't get killed or maimed in the process. Call CBS affiliate on a slow day and tell Estella Asterhooves, the local interest person. You'll get your 15 minutes of fame.

Volunteer at a children's hospital and play with dying kids. If you can bring a moment of hapiness into their tragic lives you would then be a hero in anyone's book.
