I can tell you that my adult marine shrimp ten to molt every three weeks. It will be dependent on your water quality but you will find there is a consistent pattern. Leave the molted exoskeleton in the tank. They will start eating it after it softens and it will help them replace lost minerals.

Bamboo Shrimp Molting

I've had a bamboo shrimp for about 6 months now and seems like it molts every month. It usually molts a couple days after I do a water change. A couple days later it turns a bright red. It's a really hardy shrimp.

Is it still definitely alive? In my experience stress will also cause them to shed and if they have that milky bright "just cooked" look - they have gone to the great fish pond in the sky! Slowly waft some water in the vicinity (squirt with a turkey baster or use a fish net) and make sure he really is still in the land of the living.
