If it is already packaged, usually not, but they are x-rayed and bomb sniffed and chemical checks.. etc.. before they get on a plane or a truck.

Be careful what you send.. they CAN legally open it.

You state how much you want it insured for, if it is lost and you expect to collect, then you would need to justify value. Packages are inspected ramdomly unless suspicious. If looking to con someone, USPS is a dumb place to start. It is a federal crime.

Not usualy. But if you file a claim for insurance you have to justify it. If you plan on doing insurance fraud against the USPS plan on spending 5-15 saying hello to Bubba.

no but if you put in a claim for a lost or broken item be prepared to have a receipt from the store saying what it is and how much it cost.
