Quad Core processors that will actually fit in a single AM2 are a long way off. AMD does have quad core coming, but it will use two sockets with a dual core in each. Intel is coming out with an actual Quad Core in one socket before the end of the year.

Dual-core processors have been out for more than a year already. Guess how many games have come out so far that are built to take advantage. None, nada, nein. Now, 4 or 5 can be patched to make some use of the second core, but the first game actually designed for dual-core won't be out for a few more months.

So, not only will it be a long time, if ever, before any AM2 quad-core processors come out, it will be MUCH longer before the first game will be available that can actually take advantage of them. Just get yourself a dual-core, and be ahead of the curve, like everyone else who owns one.

just stick to a dual core and you can upgrade later. A lot later to be honest, unless you really want intel. AMD isn't doing true quad-core for quite some time. By the time they do, I'm sure you could muster up enough money to switch over.

I never buy just off the line gear. I always give it a few months to work out the bugs and what evers. AM2's smoke with AMD or Intel, you will just have to decide on now or wait. "PEACE"
