You have to open them up in iTunes.

You can copy it directly to your iPOD. Just insert the USB cable at the back of your CPU, then wait for the computer to detect a hard drive, or a high capacity disk. Your PC will prompt a certain information about what is inserted in your PC, usually at the lower right of your desktop. Then a pop up window will appear, select the open folder then open also the folder where your MP3s, or other sound files exist. Then select the mp3s you want copy it and paste it to the installed hard drive [ipod]

connect your ipod to your computer. turn ipod on. open "my computer" to make sure ipod is registering. u probably have to go thru "new hardware wizard" if this is first time u connected ipod. open media player and go to "sync"tab. if your device doesn't show, go back to "my computer" try drag and pasting your music files to your device. if neither works, you need to research your model on the web, try the ipod website.

use iTunes. the installer came with your iPod package. But you can also download the latest version from www.apple.com.
