Somehow, it seems American's feel that they should get respect, much like justice - a given. As a result, something simple often snowballs - road rage, sniper-style serial killers. Where do you think these kids learned how to 'take care of business'? From watching Dad's beat other Dad's to death in hockey stands, men shooting 13 women in a university, women kidnapping pregnant women and cutting their babies out... it goes on. It seems when people go off now, they take out all the stops.

!. Americans love violence. The most popular films are violent. Music lyrics advocate violence. This is what we are.
2. Guns are too easy to procure.
3. Delayment of gratification is an ideal of the past. The media hammers the idea that a want is a need, and we need it NOW. And the idea has sunk in.
4. We have never properly addressed bullying in the schools. Kids put up with so much. The Columbine thing, especially, should have been a heads-up.
I'm amazed it doesn't happen a lot more.

Interesting, now people are blaming Bush for this also. Very sad.
The guy in Lancaster PA was apparently a copycat of an earlier shooting according to the police. Other shootings are usually done by people who have been playing a lot of violent video programs.
Turn off the televisions and violent video games kids!

The number of shootings is actually down, the body counts and coverage is what is rising. with the 24 hr media cycle they need air time to fill so they keep repeating it over and over until the next story comes up.
And when the Amish aren't safe what can be done for the rest of us?

Actually the number of fatalities in schools per capita has been dropping since the 70's. It doesn't mean it is not sad when it happens.
Bush's fault, ludicrous.
The Guns fault, ludicrous
The Amish's fault, really ludicrous
Societies fault, don't think so
Its the fault of the person that pulled the trigger. No one elses.

Its the parents fault. Kids don't just do these things. there are always signs and if the parents cared enough for their kids they would have been involved enough to see them. when a parent says there weren't signs they didn't pay enough attention.
I'm probably not being fair so most families on this.
It is truely the governments fault. When inflation became so high that families could nolonger live on one income it does make it very hard to keep good track of your kids. I'm trying to raise mine to make the right desicions and think about it before doing it.
part of my first statement is true we see what type of world we live in and we want to protect our kids from it. then when our kids become teens and actually start getting out in the world they find they are not prepared for it. They have a hard time dealing with the hardships and end up just lashing out. We don't teach them how to deal with anger and fustration. And thats when the shootings happen. We need to teach them to take responsibility for their actions.
Now adays we all are guilty of only thinking of ourselves and not the country as a whole. How many of you know most of your neighbors. I only know about six houses on my block. We don't think of ourselves as communities anymore.
We live in a country where people get paid millions of dollars a year to play sports and people who edjucate our kids make 20.000 a year.
We also live in a country where you have to be so politically correct you could get sued for something you said. And the government has such a huge board up its ars that it only wants to bicker and complain and not work together to fix the things that are wrong, it has become incompitent (both parties).
Dang the more I think about this question the more comes to mind and it's depressing i'm going to move on to the next question now.
