Examples of what I mean:

1) leggings under large tunic sweaters or miniskirts
2) stovepipes or "skinny pants"
3) jewelry with large, gaudy beading
4) punky ankle boots
5) dresses and skirts with slight (or not so slight) poofing on the bottom

I'm sure there are more, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head. Of course, the way people are wearing these now is somewhat updated from the 80's. But they are still reincarnations of the 80s.

I hated it at first because when I heard people talking about the 80s coming back, I envisioned it in a very literal way. But now I can see how some updated versions of these trends could be incorporated into a new millenium wardrobe.

So what do you think?

Ok, yes there have been small 80s bits and pieces here and there for the past couple years. But fall 2006 is the first season that designers really bravely put forward VERY 80s looks... as described above. So I am sorry, but these looks I am talking about have NOT been around for 2 years...

The 80's look has slowly started to come back but this season the look has come back even more I thnk it will stick around for at least a couple years. or at least the leggings and skinny jeans will.

First of all, have you not noticed, it has already been a trend for the last two years with the side pony tails, the leg warmers, the puffy sleeves, the eyeshadows, the bright colors in apparel, the tapered pants annd leg warmers and so on. Everything is big and bright! Hair color, food, energy drinks, shoes, bathing suits, even bedding. Invest in tights and big hoop earrings girl!

I think that its a fad that will pass in one to two years. remember, there will always be some new additions to current fashion even in between seasons so eventually the 80s stuff will be circulated out of the system.

I couldn't believe all the 80s stuff I was seeing in stores. It cracked me up. Yeah everything comes back eventually. I'm sure the 60s are just around the corner...

I don't think it'll last long, but the 70's look did stick around for a long time. (bell bottom pants, peasant shirts, and Farrah Facet hair). LOL. Do you think the leg warmers or double layered slouching socks over the leggings will make there way back, too? :)

It will come back in 20 years. Fashion always has the 20 year rule.
