We are the only country to have ever used a nuke in combat. I think there are some people in the world crazy enough to detonate one just to see what it does on a metropolitan scale. I pray that never happens on any side of the world.

I've been in Japan for a number of years, and there are many everyday Japanese who claim that their government has what is needed to assemble nuclear weapons within a number of hours if necessary.
Point 1, the new prime minister who is a nationalist plans to re-write the constitution to allow Japan to have an army, not only a "defense force".
Point 2, if North Korea tests a weapon as they have stated that they will do, then not only Japan, but also South Korea will likely develop weapons of their own.

Everyone is talking about Muslim extremists, but has anyone chatted with rank and file Christians and Israelis who believe that ultimately there WILL be an Armageddon, and that God will protect them even if nuclear weapons are used.

Somechick, it's people like you who scare me the most. You have some kind of illusion that the United States should, and better yet, will be able to MAKE people stop doing anything we don't like. That is naive and dangerous thinking. Wouldn't we be better off trying to get along with people instead to fighting the loosing battle of try to rule them?
Alas, I know your answer before I ask the question.

Yes, and from North Korea. Presently I'm 57 and believe I'll live until 87years of age. By that time, the U.S.A. and possibly NATO would have made North Korea very angry and thus, the next nuclear weapon attack will take place.

Afraid so. With the way countries like Iran, Russia, China, North Korea, etc. are beefing up their nukes, it's highly possible.

I'm sorry to say: yes, I believe so.

Not by a government -- they'd be afraid of retaliation.

But rather by a stateless terrorist.

If Hammas or Al kaida sneaks a nuke into an American city -- who/where ya gonna retaliated against?

I would not be surprised if one was used.

If on 9/10/2001 you would have asked me if a 9/11 was possible, I would have said no.

With the number of mentally imballanced leaders in the world today it is a pretty good bet that one of them is going to be stupid enough to launch. The question is who will it be, who will the target be, and what will be the response.

Bush will either use one or provoke another country to use one so he can justify bombing someplace into the stone age, then swagger and brag about it.

Not likely. Nukes, as bad as they are, are actually a deterent to war.
