because people once expected musicians to play well, sing well & write great songs. they expected to get something for their money when they bought music or concert tickets. now they are content to throw it away on third rate music made by people with no talent, cause everybody else does & theyre afraid they wont be cool. dont be sheep, people. listen to some real music & be proud youre different

Two different worlds.
I still remember when singers.. could sing.
When bands, groups were around.
The oldies.. I think of them now as classics, had so much more to offer... than the crap that I hear today.
Were has the "music" gone?
Back then, people "actually" wrote their own songs, played a musical instrument, then went on tour, and "performed" the art that they composed.
Imagine that!
Songs about Love... and all the feelings that accompany that
complex emotion.
Today, It's all about, and I mean "all about" booty, and just plain sex... no originality, and no talent.
Classic groups such as The Who, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin,
The Eagles, and the like are gone.
Individuals such as Marvin Gaye, Van Morrison, Jim Croce, are a thing of the past.
Just like Hollywood, now the likes of these "rap" performers are doing re-makes... done to a different beat, for an audience that thinks they are original because they don't know any better.
So sad...
I delight in those born after 1980 that can tell... and appreciate the major difference. That's so cool.
And as a result, have never purchased the crap that masquerade's today as "contemporary music".
There are many exceptions to this, but they mainly go
un-noticed. But thank goodness there are some people out there that know what real music is.
"Supernatural" by Carlos Santana showcases these examples.
There lies the future.. young artists, joining with an "old school" master..... to achieve originality, to stress the importance of musical structure, melody, rythym, coupled with words and feelings that are commonly shared with humanity as a whole.
No names are necessary.
You know who they are.. because they are wonderful!!

Because "back in the day" musicians were actually talented. "Talented" is probably a word few under the age of 30 know anything about. 20 years ago and beyond, you actually needed to know how to play a musical instrument to make it in the entertainment industry. Now all you need to do is be a criminal, jump up and down on a stage like a f--king orangutan and spit in a microphone, and you can make millions.....next question??? Oh by the way, please learn how to write grammatically correct sentences....thanks.

Except for the likes of Alicia keyes, I agree with your sentiment.
You have to understand that western music has its roots in Italian music. Italian music is extremely melodious and sometimes thrilling.

Well, I'm not that old (17), and I still think that the older music is much better than the stuff people my age listen to these days. What has happened to my generation?!?
