Omigosh this is going to be so vague but this is killing me...
It was out during 1988-1990 for sure but I don't know when it first came out. You sat on a red motorcycle looking thing and went side to side in these tunnels that were sometimes like a half pipe and sometimes a full pipe where you could swing all the way around in them to catch the golden rings on the ceiling. You had to avoid obstacles and collect these things that would allow you to blast all of the rock things away with a sonic blast. If you hit the obstacles, eventually your wings and the body of the small space ship thing would start to crumble. I remember being in tunnels in space after a couple levels and I'm pretty sure level 6 was a free for all with the golden rings. Sorry it has been so long that’s all I can remember.

Nope, not sonic...I've played that in the arcade and my sega console in the late 90's. The game I'm talking about came out before Sonic was popular or maybe even out.
As far as I know this mystery game was never turned into a game for a home system. Thanks though.

P.S. I know you collect those gold rings in Sonic - the rings in my game looked very similar but the game I speak of was seriously old-school.
This game wasn't a left-to right movement game. You were actually flying forward. There was no main character as you were essentially flying this red ship thing yourself.

Okay peeps - It is not sonic already lol.
I'm fittin' to be 30 here in a few days. I'm OLD and Sonic the Hedgehog came out a f t e r the game I'm looking for. Think earlier.
I've long since exhausted websites from arcade game collectors but maybe you guys will have some luck. I have faith in all y'all. (I also have a feeling this game had a one-word title.)
