any kind of "sense" that is not apart of the five senses is a sixth sense. Like the movie it could be supernatural. Which some people think is real, but um yeah. It could also be a mother's instinct. A feeling you have that something is wrong. Which many mothers experience. Have you ever met someone, and there was something about them you did not trust? You had a sixth sense about them. There was something telling you otherwise. Sixth sense.

Perception which does not depend upon the 5 physical senses (touch, sight, hearing, smell, taste).

Is it real? This depends upon what you mean by real. Some would say that a sixth sense is a fantasy. Others claim to get "intuitive" information all the time.

The 5 physical senses depend upon physical (material and energy) interactions with the environment. They are objective in nature and can be studied using scientific methods.

The 6th sense may not be a single kind of perception, but a group of events which might happen to different people in different ways. Sixth sense is never objective, but subjective in nature. Science is a poor tool to study this area.

If a single "psychic" helped solve a single police case, then the sixth sense is real. The information did come from someplace. How it works may not be as important as understanding that some people believe in this and some do not.

I think it is real. An example is when you know you are being watched.

This happens all the time for hunters. When armed, there's no game in sight. But when you only have a camera, they come in close. I'm not a hunter, but I go spearfishing (hunting underwater), and it never fails. Somehow the fish know when there is danger.

It could all be a coincidence or maybe they can sense my intention by my movements. To me, however, it seems like animals, including humans, can sense things that are not based on visual or audio cues.

If you believe in the spiritual world, then you may say that it is for real. People with the number sixth sense, are the people who have the tendency to feel spirits, more preferably known to the layman term as ghosts. Nobody can ever deny whether it is real or fake, it is up to an individuals judgement, just like me asking, is God real ?

There is not enough room here to explain this to you here. Some call this "the third eye", "cat's eye" "the devils peephole" "god's eye".. it has many names, but here's the simplest explanation I can think of at a quick... animals can sense danger, a gut reaction, animals approach some people avoid others... I can gather wild creatures and they will eat from my hand.. Why?.. they can see things, like children can, that most people can't. Why can't most? They can, but they've been taught through brain washing that there's something wrong with that or its evil.. Now why would they teach you that?.. so you can't see what they are doing to you?.... think about that.. Seeketh the truth in all things and ye will find it.
