I personally can't stand politics. But the conversation about fox news is starting to sicken me. If fox news is an extension of the government, what do you call all the other news stations when there is a democrat in office? Then are all the other stations extensions and fox the rogue news channel or something ridiculous? Please grow up.

Even if fox leaned more conservative, and they might, I don’t watch main stream news it’s all polluted. It is only one news network versus all the others. But yet people find the need to complain about it. I never hear people complain about CNN for leaning one way or another. Other than getting caught skewing a bush bashing poll, but they deserved that.

I despise both major parties to the point where I am not political. But please, for the sake of people around you who don’t care. If you like CNN and that whole liberal news network stay away from people in public who watch fox news; AKA: their “extension of the government.”

There used to be a regulation called "The fairness doctrine". It required broadcaster who broadcast partisan programming to make an equal amount of time to opposition point of view.
News programs had to mind their business because they could me made to look foolish if confronted by an intelligent rebuttal,

Republicans canned that regulation - Rush Limbaugh got his radio show and the rest is...propaganda and poison.

And to keep people off their backs - they started the spurious 'liberal bias' complaint against the straight news media.

Fox news is not an extension of the government... it's merely filling a niche in the market... the niche that wants it's news to be slanted and doesn't care about the truth...

I mean really... what are the odds that this one network is "telling the truth"... and all the others are "bias"... the odds are simply much greater that the others are "telling the truth" and this one is "bias"....

I mean when "everyone is against you"... it's clear sign of paranoia...

I really don't have a problem with Fox news until people start basing their political views off of what it and only it broadcasts... because then they are making decisions off of half-truths that they take to be the truth... and that's dangerous if you ask me...

and if you EVER listen to ANYONE who watches Fox News... they complain about EVERY OTHER NETWORK constantly... when they shut up, I'll shut up...

If it IS linked to government propoganda, there are laws related to domestic propaganda that they would have to follow. However, to spin, as a "private" news source, to be "fair and balanced" would be a lie then, wouldn't it?

Fox is not suspected as a link to the government as much as its bias towards one party, the Republican Party. Therefore - it could not be a "News" station, but something different.

It may not be an extension of the government, but when you have a station specifically placing ONLY information swayed towards one party, that is indeed problematic. I don't care WHAT party that is.

Fox News is a little too far left to be an extension of the Bush administration... although the Bush outfit is left of center.... they do have Hannity who will support Republicans no matter what and a buffoon (Alan Colmbs) who will support Democrats no matter what... but both of these commentator/supporters are left of center... Alan all the way left and Shawn on the fence, but leaning left...

CNN does have Glenn Beck.... a man who tells it like it is... without slanting either direction.... and Lou Dobbs who will put it straight to you... no breaks either direction.... but the rest of CNN is where the "commie news network" nickname arose.... so fitting, so apt.... and the rest of the news media isn't any better.

The problem you bring up is your own problem, I think. You needn't read these questions. If you don't watch the news there is no problem.
As far as news in general is concerned, it should be clear whether news is objective, so not linked to any political stream. If otherwise it should be clearly stated by the station.

I can't stand politics now either.

Fox has a definite slant toward the right.

Unfortunately, all the rest of the media (newspapers, radio, CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN (MY GOD ESPECIALLY CNN)) are 100% leftists.

Pick your poison. There is definitely too much BS on the news for any sane person to believe any of it.

Obviously you do not realize the importance of an accurate and unbiased press. The news reporters are supposed to be watch dogs of the government, not lap dogs. A free and democratic society depends on the independence of the news services to hold the politicians accountable for their actions. When our news sources become corrupted it is democracy itself which suffers. If you can't stand politics why are you on a political forum asking an ignorant question?

I reckon we could continually enable Fox blunder on. Out of existence. until now this night Hannity replaced into frantically asking: 'who is going to be fired next'? (for being suspected of fomenting hate speech for political or financial ends) Like he replaced into approximately to lose his activity. people are finally tiring of this BS, and are stressful duty and accountabilty.
