Yes.
Any society must have rules and norms.
If the "anything goes" mentality trashes all of the laws that allegedly "discriminate", we would have nothing but chaos. It would eventually lead down the escalating road that Political Correctness has taken - to a point where some people are "offended" if you wish them a Merry Christmas.
No alcohol before a certain age - does this "discriminate" against the young?
A $15.00 parking ticket is the same for a BMW or a beat up clunker - and that "discriminates" against the poor because it presents them with a much harsher penalty for the same infraction.
You probably won't land a job as a PR man for a prestigious company if you have a tattoo on your forehead - is that "discriminatory?"
You may take but one spouse at a time, sorry, but that's the rule.
Marriage is between a man and a woman, sorry, but that's the norm.
There will always be people who will feel they are offended or discriminated against because they just have about the same amount of common sense that a pile of rocks has.
Sorry, but that's just the way it is in a civilized society.

lol... that was very funny. I didn't know this was a gay question and I'm not gay but for you to use the example of bisexuals not marrying other bisexuals because they are discriminating against eachother is hysterical! I should submit it to a stand up comic to use, because that's what it sounds like.... something George Carlin would say in his next act. But the biggest point is that YOU never heard of it so it never happens? lol....... when was the last poll, survey or 'research study's' results published on that! You think bisexuals are going to go around anouncing and broadcasting they are, especially the MARRIED ones and who could be married to EACHOTHER? There could be MILLIONS of bi's married to eachother..... or do you have a direct line to everyone's personal lives and hidden secrets which nobody else has. How do YOU know this. Probably as high as 25%% of ALL married people could be bi, in the MOST normal ''appearing'' marriages and nobody even suspects nor WOULD suspect. Check out your next door neighbor OR your own FAMILY! I can't even go on with this.

Marriage carries a lot of ideals, some rarely attainable, some more everyday concepts. I've spoken with people who marry for companionship, which haunts some singles more as they age, especially if their lives have not otherwise found fulfillment. I've spoken with people who married legally at a Justice of the Peace without the vows often associated with marriage, who have said they didn't "feel" married. I've spoken with many who thought they would have that eternal friend, there through thick and thin, in that energy field of wonderful love. Most did not achieve that, but amazingly some did.
So what is this marriage so many of us seek? I will only address those who feel a need to marry to find companionship, someone to go through life with, and call upon when help is most needed. Maybe financial considerations accompany this, maybe not.
However, one huge aspect that looms heavily upon those who encountered it, and is hardly ever even whispered is: What about those gays who marry straight women? -- unbeknownst to the women, until many years later, the oddities of their marriage become so overwhelming that the truth is finally revealed.
Consider this could happen to your daughter or granddaughter. Would you rather the gay man seeking a legal companion accepted by society, church, and family marry the man he truly "loves" or marry your daughter? Remember he could be possibly having an affair "on the side" with a gay man, all of this unbeknownst to your daughter or granddaughter. Perhaps, disallowing those who prefer homosexual companionship, the mainstream has difficulty comprehending, ramifications ripple in widening circles, far more dangerous to the health and well being of straight members of society, than any gay marriage would ever do. "Underground gays" are practicing homosexuality all the same, and the spread of sexually transmitted diseases to your daughter or granddaughter is a very real threat, nonexistent if gays are comfortable being who they feel they are. There is something different none of us can deny. A straight person cannot force themselves to be attracted to their own gender any more than a homosexual can find pleasure in the opposite gender. It is indeed extremely difficult for us to begin to understand each other.
It now seems that some of the most public critics in our political world of homosexual activity are those pointing fingers of condemnation just to divert attention from the thought that they could actually be the manifestation of that which they are condemning.
So, should we discriminate in marriage? Yes, we should not allow those to marry who are not honest about their attraction to their potential spouse. That seems an impossible task though for so many do marry for money, or for fear that if they don't marry soon, they will never have the chance for that "full life".
Not being able to guarantee consenting adults truly love one another, the least we can do and should do is ensure all have the opportunity to be with at least the group of consenting adults they do choose, to avoid massive abuse of those they use to avoid revelation of sexual preference in a non accepting society.
Consider that the best way to protect straight relationships from undercover homosexuals is to allow gays and lesbians to marry among themselves. Remember we do not have to "see" what we do not wish to. Intimate behavior should always be private.
Now, protecting our privacy is another matter altogether, with serious threats to our bill of rights on all those privacy issues guaranteed since the founding of our country. . .

This may be some of the most tortured logic I've ever read. And the fooled by 'black and white' logic thing....I mean wow, this from the it's all good or it's all evil crowd is priceless. I wonder if the majority thinks gays should be rounded up and exterminated does that mean "that's it?" You'd have made a 'good german' in 30's and 40's.

The only reason gays want to have marriage is because the sound majority of our States have public policies which favor marriage, which tend primarily, to be economical. Interestingly, however, most of the marriage benefits can be drafted for anyone with the right legal documents (State and Fed tax law the one exception).
There is no currently nothing stopping gay couples from setting up house-keeping...
So what, then motivates the quest for marriage? I believe they are seeking the one thing which most liberals say they don't want in our government, which is religious acceptance, and moral recognition...
I find it incredibly ironic that the folks that are the most offended by the notion of gay marriage are exactly who gays want approval from...

I dont believe in gay marriage. BUT I also do not believe the government has any place in marriage at all. i dont think there should be any licsences, tax cuts, attorneys etc.. Marriage is a religious concept and should be handled by the church and only the church. My church would not wed a couple of the same sex, but im sure there are religions that would...more power to them.
There should be no benefits to being married other than those given to you by a higher power, whatever you may belive in.

I'm not 100% sure what your point is.
Each society gets to choose their laws. If the majority says gay marriage is bad, then that's it.
If you want society (all 300 million) to do what you say, then you're a fool.
Those who want to live in a different society can certainly move.
Gay marriage will never be a reality in the USA.

It is not meant to discriminate in such a way as to keep away people who COULD otherwise engage in that activity.
It is immoral for a man to marry a man. That is just a FACT.

The definition of "Marriage" is based on the propogation of the human race. Therefore it discriminates against everything and everybody not propagating the human race!

what? dude...try again...your question and statements are poorly thought out! Also, try being objective when asking a question, you may get better, more varied answers instead of instigating others to 'attack' you for being overtly bias....
