Whatever happened to personal responsibility? Everywhere you look, when questioned, the Republicans/conservatives try to justify Mark Foley's behavior by saying that the Democrats/left are no better. Whatever happened to accepting personal responsibility for your actions? Does else think they should be working with the Democrats/left to prevent and stop sexual predators from attaining office? What are your thoughts?

I am not implying that Democrats have a moral high ground, but that doesn't chaneg the fact that instead of addressing the issue, the Republicans are content to place blame elsewhere. If a Democrat was found doing this, I'd be equally appalled.

I agree, all the finger pointing and nobody is really checking to see if Foley is actually where they say he is. I was surprised he was in rehab rather than jail. I would be even more surprised if they actually drew the sides together to stop it from happening. I am tired of cronyism in our government. What ever happened to people standing up for what is right? What is American? I would hate to say that day passed but it seems to be that kind of person has passed us by and we are left with the pretenders that talk the talk but can't walk the walk.

I agree, things have REALLY taken a turn for the worst. Political self interest, is slowly decaying the values upon our country was founded. Republicans and Democrats need to work together as checks and balances for the common good of the nation. Too much of one or the other will be detrimental.
In regard to Foley's folly, he alone is responsible for his actions and neither side should attack or defend him. Our government needs to work for the people who voted for them in a fashion that gets criminals and pedophiles and other sick freaks off the streets and CERTAINLY Out of and elected office!!!
I think another part of the issue is that Liberals and Conservatives attack each other WAY TOO MUCH ON THIS FORUM and that only adds to each parties fervor. Can we as a nation do what our leaders can't and work together?

Any thinking person realizes that every time Hastert blames the Democrat - he's basically admitting that had the scandal NOT broke, it would have been business as usual and even more page boys would be sexually harrassed or molested.
It's counter-productive and only the very small percentage of Republicans who will follow their party no matter what will eat that crap up. Anyone with half a brain sees through it.
Problem is, the Republicans think Americans are dumb. I hope they are wrong.

certainly, the reality that North Korea would (or will possibly no longer) have a nuclear weapons could distract any sane guy or woman from a scandal regarding a Republican who's no longer in congress. The Harry Reid component is stupid too. Shady, yet hardly relevent to the real subject concerns.

You're absolutely right. Dennis Hastert should resign as speaker of the house.
If he doesn't...and if Republicans don't insist on that...then he (and they) are acting every bit as sorry as that Democratic scum did during their scandals...including the rape of a 16 year old intern.

I don't justify Foley's actions. He's a scumbag. Having said that, the idea that congressional Democrats have the moral high ground is laughable, and you and I both know it.

Sources? What elected Republican official have you heard 'say that the Democrats / left are no better" ??
You are simply basing your statement off of some post you read on the internet .. and you have no idea who the actual person is that posted .. Sorry to poke holes in your story - but it doesn't hold water.

Yes, this should be a non-partisan issue, but politicians are trying more to protect their own @sses than deal with it. It's sickening.
