Seems like most 'intellectuals' have been brainwashed to believe you can't discriminate because they have been fooled by 'black and white' logic.

Some discrimination is both logical and correct. There is a positive side to most all things.

Well, even homosexuals discriminate ! You don't find homosexual men marrying homosexal women, now do you ?

Seem like the definition of 'marriage' is based on the biological differences between men and women, and even the gay community discriminates on that basis.

The current definition of marriage discriminates on various grounds, on age, on the basis of gender, and on the basis of orientation, ie monogamy.

Is it okay for the definition of marriage to discriminate and or is it wrong that the definition of marriage discriminates?

Women cannot marry women, men cannot marry men. Is this really a PROBLEM?

If we have any roots in a judeo-christian society, this can't happen. I suspect that the Supreme Court will establish that principle.

Same-sex marriages are an anathema. I will tolerate gays, but do not impose your thoughts among our children.

lol... that was very funny. I didn't know this was a gay question and I'm not gay but for you to use the example of bisexuals not marrying other bisexuals because they are discriminating against eachother is hysterical! I should submit it to a stand up comic to use, because that's what it sounds like.... something George Carlin would say in his next act. But the biggest point is that YOU never heard of it so it never happens? lol....... when was the last poll, survey or 'research study's' results published on that! You think bisexuals are going to go around anouncing and broadcasting they are, especially the MARRIED ones and who could be married to EACHOTHER? There could be MILLIONS of bi's married to eachother..... or do you have a direct line to everyone's personal lives and hidden secrets which nobody else has. How do YOU know this. Probably as high as 25%% of ALL married people could be bi, in the MOST normal ''appearing'' marriages and nobody even suspects nor WOULD suspect. Check out your next door neighbor OR your own FAMILY! I can't even go on with this.

I agree that discrimination is logical, but not always correct. Intellectuals aren't brain washed by race - it's just opened a larger discussion on what discrimination is. Which is SO confusing! Anyway, my hubby teaches marriage and family in college and I'll tell you his perspective.

Marriage, our current definition, leaves out a lot of people, like you said. But, in this arguement what's really important to realize is that the act of marriage carries benefits. I can talk about my husband without someone thinking I'm gay. I can have access to his property. But most importantly, marriage (and kids), are something nearly EVERYONE in society is expected to do. Have you ever talked to a 42 year old woman who has never been married? She's probably embarrassed to talk about it, or even knows that when she tells people, they are going to wonder what's wrong with her, even if she's fine with not being married.

So, being married gives you rights and social meaning. It means something to other people -- it conveys your normal, done things right, done what you're supposed to do.

Now, think of this from a gay person's perspective. Why to they what to be married (beyond love and economics)? Because it legitimizes them socially, plan and simple. Whether or not Christians or other faiths believe it's ok doesn't matter. They believe its ok. And saying your married means A LOT in our culture.

But here's your point of view - being married means a lot to Christians. Marriage says very specific things about Christianty, and to compromise it, undercuts the core of the religion.

I have know clue who will win this fight. Personally, I think it's fine for homosexuals to get married. Maybe we can call it civil unions. I don't know. But, eventually, as a society, we are going to have to acknowledge that homosexuals do form lasting, meaningful relationships. Whatever we call it will be the big fight.

It's wrong. And your logic is really...well...dumb! "You don't find homosexual men marrying homosexual women...?" WHAT?! That's your rationale? So that makes it OK to deny people basic human rights? I get that you're trying to explain away the persecution of a group of people, but I think the problem is that the word "discrimination" has several meanings, and you're confusing those meanings. If you discriminate against someone based on race, sex, sexual orientation, you're denying them the same rights that others are afforded, (i.e. marriage). Or you may be "discriminating" in your choice of a mate (look for specific qualities, such as the gender you are attracted to). You may actually understand these distinctions, I'm not going to assume you don't, but your question blurs these distinctions, so maybe you should rethink this question. It comes off as a little silly.
And be careful using "biology" as a rationale to discriminate against people. Remember that over 100 yrs ago African-Americans were thought to be "biologically inferior" and that baseless notion was used to validate slavery and...discrimination.

If it stops two people from being together happily then no, the definition of marriage should NOT discriminate.

Marriage is a commitment of two people to each other for an eternity.

Doesn't matter sex or gender.

You are an idiot.
You're thinking of different types of discrimination which opperate on different principals.

You are talking about distinguishing between types of attraction, and the oppression of people based on social category.

How is it oppressing the homosexual woman if the homosexual man doesn't want to marry her? or vice versa?

apples and oranges.
nonsequitur
logical fallacy

No, it is not OK. Hatred and bigotry is just hatred and bigotry. You can roll it up in a nice and tidy package and call it the bible. It is still hate and bigotry.
