All you seem to be able to do is put the other side down,, us V them,, dem v rep,, lib v con,, I have yet to read any constructive debate regarding a topic as it pertains to your countries real issues,, or now in 2006 do you fight your political battles like little school kids with personal tauts and feigned moral indignation..

As expected I've received only sensible answers so far obviously from moderate fold who would wish the debate be taken from the gutter and elevated to the mind,,

to answer your question...

yes...

and the sad part is... IT WORKS...

those who yell the worst things the loudest win elections in the U.S.... apparently a large percentage of the population not only likes "school kid fights" but want their leader to be the "baddest bully on the playground"...

it's really sad... the more you say "can't we talk about issues"... the more people yell insults...

to have a democracy work, you have to have an educated populous... I'm starting to wonder how much longer it's going to work in the U.S., because it seems that the populous just doesn't care anymore... about education or the future...

That's because the powers that be don't want any debate on real issues. And as our press was bought out years ago, we have no simple source for news, so most people are completely uninformed. Meanwhile all this distraction is trotted out to make sure nobody notices or can comment on what is really going on. It looks a lot like Germany in the late 1930's.

This forum does seem to have become much worse lately.

I'm not sure if the average age dropped, or if the trolls just took over, but I am sad to see what could be a place for the discussion of ideas turn into a middle-school locker room.

It is sad that it's like this, I understand where you are coming from, it's a war in our own country against each other. I'm a Democrat and all I really want is peace, but I gotta stick up for my fellow Democrates, it's not right the war is hurting everyone. We have turned against each other and it's not going to get better until things are right once again. I hope that day comes soon for everyones sake.

No, its always been this way since as long as I can remember. thank you for calling us out on it.... seriously, I don't think ANYONE has ever made that concise and direct an observation of our nation's political posturing.......EVER!!!!!!!! It's just globalized now as we piss and moan on the internet instead of dealing with the problems that need help.

And for everyone else who cries about GW Bush, be patient, I'm sure we'll all be doing the same on this site when we elect someone else, its the American way!

I think some of them made good sense about the voting,
because if it wasn't compulsory in Queensland maybe voters would have put the right side in... not the side who has stuffed it up for years!!!

You didn't have to qualify your question with the year "2006" - this is how we've conducted political debates since George Washington was president.

That's why we don't discuss religion or politics at a social gathering.

It's completely silly, you're right. The Neoconservatives came up with these ridiculous categories. One survey regarding the category of Red and Blue states concluded that most people are not red or blue-- but purple. It's time these strident voicers get with the program. (If you read closely, it's the conservative bigots that dominate most boards with sleazy comments-- they would call themselves red).
