The United nations may not be able to stop bloodshed or enforce treaties - their largest member counties have no will to be effective -
but they are a major element of humanitarian aid in war-torn areas and refugee camps.
No joke at all.

The U.N. stands for "The United Nations"..as in,.."The rest of the world"! These are the people who we wish stood beside us when torrorists stike. If the world "united" and stopped "dividing" as Bush has forced us to do, this wouldn't be a question. You should understand we all have to live here in peace, breathe the air and drink the water, and raise our children. To do this and have humanity survive, we have to get along, all of us!.The United Nations was begun to "unite the world communities to work for the COMMON GOOD!
. Only with this administration are we alone and divided. Did you know statisticaly, the world, doesn't hate we the people, they hate our President because he is aggressive and doesn't follow the rules that "the United Nations ( us included) agreed on. Torture is one of the many Laws this President has broken, while he has our own Congress making it not only "OK", but OK, under the law. We the American people have all stood still for this in silent, why? The United Nations, in theory, is a good thing...Think about if we were all a part of that "United", instead of "Agree with us or you're not a good American or a patriot".. we'd not be alone against terrorism now.. Both the U.N. and the very concept that created it, is a good thing, unless you are GW Bush and don't want to follow the laws. Didn't we just allow our own Congress to "allow this President to torture",,IN OUR NAME??? The UN is not for torture either. It seems to me in the world, we are the joke if we assume we have any integrity left after this President changes the laws so he doesn't get convicted of "Committing war crimes".by a United Nations watchdog when the truth comes out, and it will. The rest of the world, which is the United Nations will be telling the truth to we "the people", long before our own administration allows even our Congress to see records in his new abilty as the sole editor of truth....Something to think about. United is a good thing, United Nations is a moral worldly goal not a joke...

No, but obviously the UN has some serious problems. I'm not prepared to throw out the baby with the bathwater, let's keep working on it. The UN functions a lot better than the League of Nations did, so that's a start. Don't forget that the UN was founded by the nations that won WW2, I don't think stopping a guy like Hitler was a joke at all.

Absolutely. A useless organization if there ever was one. It is time to kick them out of the U.S. and free-up some parking spaces and prime real estate in New York.
U.N. members are breathing the the air of people who could actually do something constructive. Their time to go is past due.
