What exactly are incentives?

One company says that they will pay good base pay + incentives. What are incentives?

Incentives are rewards that you will earn. For example, an incentive might be that if you show outstanding performance, you will get a bonus. If you finish a project early, you will get an extra day off. If your department presents the best plan, you will get a dress-down week. Something like that.

Something extra they give when business is good as an incentive for their employees to work harder. Kind of like bonuses.
