They mate March to May, lay eggs 25-40 days later, and the egg hatches after about 40-90 (but sometimes as long as 170) days later.

This means that they can hatch pretty much all summer and early fall.

I wonder why you ask. These are about the most protected reptiles in the US and they are illegal to collect in the wild, buy, or sell without a permit. If you are thinking of looking for a baby to raise, think again- they are hard to find and protected.

If you are trying to hatch a clutch, the situation depends on many variables, but the rule of thumb is to never discard a potentially viable egg. If the egg collapses or stinks of rot, toss it. As long as it is reasonably firm, let it keep going.
