the thing about blocking is it's 75% technique, and 25% physical ability. i've seen many times smaller guys man-handling bigger guys with speed and good technique. get lower than him quicker than him, that way you have the advantage because you have more leverage to use. that's the key.
and another thing, it's a common misconception that bigger guys make better offensive linemen-now i might say this is true for pass blocking, but when it comes to the running game, smaller, quicker guys are needed for a great running team. somebody else already used this as an example, but look at the Denver Broncos, and also the Atlanta Falcons. they are prime examples of this. also, the New England Patriots have a smaller line.

I agree with Joe B, Chop Blocking is probably the best way to block a bigger guy. Just try to get lower than your opponent.

you jerks are actually suggesting to a middle school aged child to chop block? what the hell is wrong with you. If youve ever listend to john madden he loves to talk about how holding happens on every play. heres how to get away with a legel hold. when the players comes up to you slide your hands underneath his shoulder pads. a couple of things you have to remember is you can never fully stretch out your arms. Keep them close to you. another thing is to keep your arms inside of his shoulder blades. Even though your blocking him by holding, you still have to stay low and block with your feet and your legs. most of your muscle mass is in your legs right now. stay with your blocks and between him and were your play is going. most likely your running back will be faster then the dlineman. just hold him up until the play is past him.
dont chop block people its dirty. not that holding isnt but by the time you get to high school your coaches will be teaching you how to legally hold.
You do want to get lower then your opponent never go at his knees

Concentrate on hitting him lower than he hits you, and pump hard with your legs. It's amazing how well this can work, and how often they never catch on to what's happening.
If he consistently comes at you the same way, try to use his weight against him.
If you sense that he's getting past you, emphasize his motion with your own and propel him wider in the same direction he's already moving, pushing him wider than he was aiming for.
Work with the guy next to you to double team him periodically, if possible. One hits high, the other low.
If you only need to disable him for a particular play (instead of moving him out of the way), hit him so low that both of you go to the ground right where you are.

Your line coach should be ablee to give u some pointers on this. Technique, leverage, quickness and positioning are key components. The Dever Broncos are a good example of smaller quickr linemen doing a great job.

Don't chop block. That is illegal an could cause the guy permanent damage. Get lower than he is and try to trip him up. If you can't do it, then tell the coaches you are having trouble and see about a double team.

I got that problem i play o-line and the best answer most the time is to just cut put your helmet on there special parts and your shoulders in the knees and bear crawl. that wont always work u need movement some times get under him drive ur feat forward hit him hard hit him in the stomach and push he will lose balance.

Get low, keep a square base, elbows in, attack with your thumbs up...and get under the breast plate of his shoulder pads.
or
fire out low and try to "smell" his hip pads.
get your head on the outside of where you need to block him...and drive - just like you're pushing the sled.

Plant your facemask in his chest and drive your feet, the person with the technique and whose lower to the ground always wins.

Have better technique. Be stronger than he is.
Heck, if you're shorter, you should have a great shot at getting below his shoulder pads and that means you've got position on him.
