The Netherlands have been going through some very difficult times recently... It USED to be the most liberal and tolerant country in Europe, but in the last 10 years a lot has changed... in my opinion, NOT for the better... Yes, there are still windmills, a few green grassy fields and some not too bad looking blond women (not sure about the clogs though) but what's missing is the friendly atmosphere there USED to be...

Sorry to put a damper on this but no, it is not such a nice place to live in. lived there for 8 years. absolutely loved the first 2 years, felt ackward for the next 2 and couldn't stand the last 4!
Sorry! The Dutch culture has a lot to offer and some fantastic traditions. But there are a lot of drawbacks too! Scenery and landscape is great and even if some people complain that it is flat, I keep saying that the landscape is in the sky (look at Dutch paintings and you'll see what I mean). Visiting is great. a short stay is great, living there is VERY difficult. and I will NOT go back!

Yes it's beautiful, it is a very small country you can cross it by car in a day, It has many windmills all over on the country side, while driving you can see many ponds with ducks and swans, There are many tulips and there is a huge beautiful flower park called Keukenhoff where you can see all the different types of tulips. Usually people keep their curtains open so that passers by can see inside their homes, I found that pretty amazing and assume it must be a very safe place to be. By my experience, duch people can trick you by charging you more or not giving you the correct change, but they might not break in to robb you or do some type of violent crime. The weather is nice during spring to fall but winter is cold.

No, not at all, Holland isn't all windmills, and clogs. It's a nice, charming place to live with modern people. E.g Amsterdam==> beautiful!!!
A lot of people have a typical vision on holland, but it's not true at all.
It's the same like i would ask: America, is it a nice place to live? Or are there only fat people who eat nothing but fast food? that's ridiculous, right!
Although i love holland, i prefer Belgium, The cities are nicer, in my opinion. I love GHENT, Bruges, Brussels and Antwerp.
What can i say, i'm a belgian girl.

With the criteria unique i'd not vacation everywhere outdoors a 40 - 50 mile radius. you'll favor to be in a honest length city, with good centers, a good rail link into the city it quite is interior a funds and three mattress homestead lower than 250k. properly there is not any longer a lot determination truly. you would possibly want to correctly be fortunate and earnings a good bargin on a house for around the 200k mark, yet they're uncommon in the South East Commuter Zones. attempt places like, East Grinstead, Crawley, Horsham, Petersfield, Winchester, Andover, examining, Aylesbury, Luton, Letchworth. and so on. good luck on your search for.

I am Dutch, at times it is terrib,e especially the weather during winter months and the cost of living these days.
The social climate is somewhat frigid however people can be really nice once you get to know them.
