Travelers are always welcome in Wal-Mart parking lots.Lots of camera's for security.Just park at the back of the parking lot away from traffic and noise.

Not all Wal-Marts will let you but many will. Those that don't usually have it posted. In Phoenix there are truck stops not too far out of town along the freeway. Flying J is nice. Many places have bathrooms and showers too. In AZ it is legal to park on the side of the road on National Forest Land to sleep. I know, not inner city. You might have to figure out how to sleep covertly in the lots of places open 24 hours like diners. Or, how about at visitor spaces of apartment complexes--some place that doesn't require a visitor pass in the window. Again, you would likely get kicked out if they saw you sleeping so you'd have to be sneaky.

Most highway have rest stops almost every 60 miles allowing us to pull over and take a nap before moving on. They have saved my life continually. If you can't find one, pull off on any side street and take your nap. Cops would rather you get your nap then have a fatal accident in their area.

no not all 24hr convince stores are like this. It depends on the town, and the state, like in Texas for example, the state will try to tow you away if you spend more than 8 hours parked in a public parking lot. or if you leave your vehicle unattended for more than 24hr.
