I have to admit--I am an ACMilan fan but I would give up anything To have Buffon in our side!

You mean World Player..not World Cup b/c that title was already given to Zidane.

Anyways...The 2006 Fifa WORLD player award should be given to Eto'o or Henry. But I think it'll be Klose or Cannavaro. But let's just see how Cannavaro does from now to December w/ Real. He's gotta stay consistant.

The WC Player 2006 Award deserved Cannavaro, he was the best player in Italia team all 7 games, but if SEVEN games is enough to get the FIFA World Player 2006 Award.........and that list has nothing to do with WC, if you notice Eto is on the list...

Who is this Buffon you are talking about , I don't see him on the list ?!?!?!?!?

Cannavaro he was few votes behind Zidane and he should ve got the award after Zidane behavior in the finale cuz the best player is a role for many children in the world and such a behavior is not acceptable.

Zidane, despite what he did July,9 to Materazzi.

In the 1998 World Cup final, Zidane attracted international attention with two headed goals against Brazil that won his country's first ever FIFA World Cup title. He contributed to his teams' victories in the Euro 2000, the UEFA Champions League, and domestic championships in Italy and Spain.

Zidane was elected FIFA World Player of the Year a record-equalling three times (1998, 2000, 2003) and was named European Footballer of the Year in 1998. The world-record fee of € 66 million for his transfer to Real Madrid in 2001 remains unequalled. In 2004, he topped the UEFA Golden Jubilee Poll on Best European football player of the past 50 years, and was included in the FIFA 100, Pelé's list of the 125 greatest living footballers. At the 2006 FIFA World Cup, he was named Most Outstanding Player of the tournament, thus receiving the Golden Ball.

Tough decision.....would pick Zidane's performance until he headbutted Materazzi (though provoked, it still does not send a positive message to youngsters)....and he's one of the greatest in the world in his career and I still support Zidane...but you are asking about 2006 wc so....

I would have to go with Klose. He was amazing and showed good sportsmanship!

Zinedine Zidane. Even if he didn't do much, he was the best. Best doesn't necessarily mean someone who scores a lot. Do you guys remember that one header Zidane had against France this past World Cup? The ball didn't go in with this particular header, but it looked so cool. It went so fast, and perfectly straight, like a bullet.

not ronaldhino , not riquelme , not gattuso , not pirlo , not drogba ,not zambrotta , not henry . not klose .

zidane or cannavaro???

i think cannavaro because he had a vital role in the wcup victory for italy , zidane also had but his head butt probably lost the match for france. thats what i personaly think

Fabio Cannavaro, for sure
.
Zidane didn't show full form in the Group stage, but only started kicking *** in the knockout games. Cannavaro had brilliant, perfect defense throughout the tournament. And never even got a card.
