Will people carry signs that say things like 'Good Riddance' or 'The Devil loves homophobes' or 'Give my regards to Satan when you get there!'?

It seems like it would be poetic justice.

Do you think the Westboro Baptist Church would try to keep people away?

I have lived in Topeka Kansas, and actually lived in the subdivision of Westboro. I lived less than 6 blocks from this man and his compound. My first interaction with him was 2 days after I moved to town. He was in town picketing a church where a funeral was being held. I was so angry by this I wanted to take my car and run them down.

Later I realized that would make me no better than them. I am a better person than they are, because I know God loves everyone. He hates no one.

When he dies I will say a prayer that somehow God can forgive him for his sins and teach him what is truely right. That he finds that peace.

When he dies I hope only his family shows up. That there is no media coverage of his death, that no one pickets his funeral. That these signs of grace upon our part shows we are a better people than he ever was.

I hope from the lack of coverage that his family and church understand that he will not be missed by anyone here. That he will soon be forgotten.

I hope is tombstone remains untouched, and never decorated. A tribute to a man who was unloved and forgotten.

The man and his cultists are steeped in pure hatred and ugliness.

I don't know whether they are more to be loathed or pitied.

Can't imagine where they're going to bury him when the time comes---you think it's tough getting a place for a Mafia kingpin or a mass murderer....?-- but at least Mother Earth is good for cleansing Herself, given sufficient time, so it's not **quite** like creating a toxic waste dump....

(Uncharitable, but I'm still seething about his plans to crash the Amish kids' funerals. The Amish/Mennonite folk in my area are some of the gentlest, kindest people I've ever met---wish more Christians were like them.)

You know, I think it would. I'm sure they would try to keep people away. I can hear them no demanding that people show them some 'respect'. I'd like to go with a sign that says Fred Phelps is in Hell. As far as stooping to his level, please. This man has spewed hate to service men and women, AIDS patients, etc. People he didn't even know. It's one thing to demonstrate at someone's funeral who has done nothing to you. But this guy deserves it.

Oh it would be fair justice to him and his followers. Yet we as a people should show ourselves to be bigger and better than he ever was. We should allow him to be buried in peace with his family there. Let this silence also show to them that he did not matter in this world and will soon be forgot. Let it tell them no one loved him here, but that we as a people can forgive his sins against us. Let us show him what is truely right.

It would be best to have a few maggot wagons pull up, Pop up a couple party tents and celebrate ,fireworks,Celebrity speeches, give him the send off he deserves.
Just make sure to put the portapotty on top of his grave.

That would be poetic justice, most definitely. I'm in on that demonstration!

I read your question out loud to my roommate. He shouted "YES!" without pause.

But after thinking about it for a minute, I'm actually going to say no. There's a reason why we think of him as we do--he does things that we see as evil. What makes him different from us is that we'd never do what he does.

No. He would LOVE it. He's a publicity hound - he loves attention.

I wouldn't give him the satisfaction.

Though, after he's buried, I might take a private walk and piss on his grave.
