I'm considering a trampoline for my four year old daughter....the ones with the enclosures look safe enough. What are some of the possible injuries? medical professionals please comment if you have one. Thank you

You know, when i was a kid, people weren't so cautious about what kids did, but i work in a children's hospital and took care of a kid who fell off a trampoline, broke his neck, and is paralyzed for life! Of course, a million things could happen to any kid at any time, but is it worth the risk? I have three kids- no trampoline in our yard!

Well, the ones with the guard nets around them are safer, as long as you don't let 3-4 kids jump at once. I worked in X-ray and the number of Tib/Fib fX's I saw were countless. It would happen when the kids legs would get stuck in between the springs (the one without the gaurding) The other con is when several kids jump at once, someone gets knocked in the nose or poked in the eye or one falls on anothers leg ect. Kids need to understand that there is a correct way to jump on a trampoline (knees only slightly bent and shoulders balanced), and wether or not a 4 yr old is able to comprehend the balance yet, I am not sure? That would be your call. Good luck.

A woman I work with has a four or five year old son who broke his leg on a trampoline this week. He didn't fall off the side, he simply jumped up, came down on the trampoline, and snapped it. Even the enclosed ones are very dangerous, every parent or doctor I've talked to strongly advises parents to stay away from them, especially for a girl so young.

I used to work for a chiropractor and the trampoline injuries were endless. I will never forget when he turned to me one day and said...If people knew how dangerous these things were they would never let their children on them...

I now have 3 boys..ages 5-9 and they do not have one.

My husband is a police officer, and last summer he got a call to a house where a girl had injured herself on a trampoline. She was jumping, and she came down and twisted her ankle and broke it. When he got there, her foot was turned completely around backwards. He's seen other injuries, too. (People falling off and hitting their heads, etc.) He swore we would never get one for our children.

Quite dangerous.. I still remember when i was 10, my mom take us to visit my aunt. So i play with my aunt son. We play trampolines, when i go take some water. I saw him doing backflip. I say "COOL" how you do that? Then he show me but when he show me his back flip FAILED! his leg LOOK SO PAIN. You almost can feel it.Well trampolines ARE dangerous. But if you play not to like DOING SOME TRICKS. it will be.. Who knows what happens? if you jump high quite high the trampolines can be broken either. So quite dangerous. Play with peace.:P

my older brother drug ours beside the house and jumped off from the second story. it was supposed to be the highest bounce in the history of trampolines, he wouldnt let me try it, because he was so much cooler...lol He ran so fast off the house his landing angle was nowhere near vertical. he bounced. i would say about 20 ft at a 45 degree angle into moms minivan, and knocked the breath out of his self, and had some stitches.....classic.
