Different bodily traits vary with populations & regions all over the world. Some are easy to see how they help adapt to conditions, like pigmentation; others may simply drift through populations neither pro nor con for fitness. Perhaps shape of the nose is one of these latter traits? Why do people of mongolian origin tend to have smaller noses than others? Same thing.
