I don't hate Republicans. Many of their veiws I share. But the Republican Party I used to respect has been hijacked by the far right. Why doesn't the rest of their party take a stand and take their party back from the far right before it's too late?
Sadly, there just aren't enough people like McCain and Hagel left in the GOP.

CHEVICK, I didn't say I was a Republican, did I? I'm a moderate independent. But I like some of what Republicans stand for and some of what Democrats stand for. In a perfect world both parties would be controlled by moderates because the majority of Americans are moderate in their views.

Doesn't the average American understand what's wrong with both parties?
While they are all on the hill, playing their little games, issues that are very important to the citizens are being ignored. How can these people give us one hundred percent of their efforts on the job? We are paying them to do a job, not play games and surely not to be soap opera stars!!!!
They are ripping us off when they do this crap. If I spent my time on the job, jerking around like these people do, I would be fired in an instant. It's time for more independants and Libertarians to get in office. This crap has been going on for far too long.

Unfortunately you do not represent the majority of Republicans. McCain and Hagel are not main stream Republicans.
The party like the Democrats is a coalition of different ideologies. Some common threads are what keep them together. Their togetherness is their power.
Honestly I believe the Democrats are moving left faster than the Republicans are moving right.
Before long a third party may become viable.

Yes, they do understand about the far right, but they are more afraid of the far left that has high jacked the Democratic party.
And why do like McCain so much? I personally think that his time in a pow camp made him insane. Hell, he does not even know what party he belongs to! I like Mr. Lieberman though. He is only Democrat that really understands the times we live in. I do not agree with his economic views though. But he is honest, which is more that I can say for Clinton he and she, Gore, Kennedy, Kerry, Boxer, Finestein, Etc. And I am sincere. I have seen what these kind of people can really do. I live in California!

I don't know if they've been high jacked. I think there is less cohesion within the party than there used to be; they've been lucky, really. Look how long Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, not to mention Howard Dean, have been embarrassing the Democrats. Too bad we just can't eliminate the far right and the far left. Then maybe the parties could actually work together.

Once again, its not the party, but a few bad seeds spoiling the batch...
It is true that some brave, moderate republicans need to take a stand and take back the party.
First, we need to all stop the hating on each other though! If the elephants and donkeys could just get along!!!!!

I'll grant you, I'm not particularly happy with the Republican Party. Issues like securing the borders, spending my money like water and so on leave me seething.
The problem is that the current alternatives - the Democrats and the Libertarians - are no better on those issues and much, much worse on others. (Well, all right - the Libertarians talk a good game about spending, but I'm afraid I've grown cynical since my girlhood.)
So - I push for change in the Republican Party. At least they listen on rare occasions. Harriet Myers or Miers or however her name is spelled comes immediately to mind.

That's okay, because the Dems are being overtaken by the far left fringe.
I don't trust McCain or Hagel. They're nothing but RINOs as far as I'm concerned.
