Well according to this http://www.italianrap.com/italam/italam_race.html
Italians are not white but the U.S goverement calls italians white ,I think people from southern europe are not white and should be called medditeranean because they have darker skin and they do not have blonde hair or blue eyes o r any of that as you would find in the north of europe, I find physically and mental features of italians are different of than that of northern europeans, Wee have a little italys... and italians went through alot of discrimination and racism back in the days because of there skin color, the food they ate ..Please tell me what you think italians are white or would you consider them something of them being on there own

Perhaps 50% of Italians have slightly darker skin or hair color, compared to people from Northern Europe but they're still white. As a matter of fact, lots of them have blonde hair and blue eyes. Should I suppose you've never been to Italy? There just happens to be more sun to Mediterranean countries so most residents maintain their tan even at winter.

No, I don't view Italians as white. Italian is a nationality. White is a race. Some Italians are white, some are true Latins. In my own family there are Northern Italians with fair complexion & some of them do have blonde hair, while others from Southern Italy have much darker complexion with dark hair and eyes. By the time it got to me, I had a blend of these traits plus Irish from my mother's side of the family. I call myself white, but I'm really sort of a "mutt" with regard to race.

Yes, it's kinda weird that Italians are considered white, while Spanish (from Spain) are considered Hispanic (even though their skin tones, lifestyle, and language are very similar)... Hispanics I guess is more for Latin Americans, which can be black or white or anything in between.
I agree Mediterranean might be a better term, but white should be changed to Anglo-Saxon maybe (because you can still be Mediterranean and very white skin - like Greeks). Even so, it really shouldn't matter. They should either divide it by regions or by skin color, not both like the mess they already have.
I consider Italians white. I even consider myself white... but I say I'm hispanic on paper because thanks to Affirmative Action it's better to be a minority for some things (ex. getting into schools, gettting hired, etc.)
