At one time, Subaru vehicles had a strong reputation for reliability and a very high customer satisfaction rating. However, since I haven't paid too much attention lately, that may have changed since.

Why Subarus Suck

Took my 1987 Subaru to Eastern Europe where roads are terrible, salt is 2 inches thick in winter, gas was poor quality and service shops for Subaru were none existent. Drove it over 300,000 and retired it in Finland where it was still running after I returned to US. Enjoying my 2011 Subaru Outback with no major problems. I get about 29-31 around town and peak out at 36.2 on Interstate. I plan to drive this one over 200,000 and then buy another one. My first Subaru was made in Japan and my second was made in Indiana.

Subaru's are awesome cars. They are actually built very well and last a long time as long as you treat them right, but that goes with any car. You cant go wrong with a Sooby though! Great cars!!

They are an awesome brand well engineered, very durable, reliable and dependable. Brakes are pricey if you buy OEM. otherwise the only time you are in the shop is for regular service. They last a long time Good re-sale value too.

I typically only buy American or German, but the Subaru is IMHO the standout of the Japanese car companies.
