There's no joy in me and I'm always sad because of no joy in me. I hang out on the internet all day for about 12 hours everyday after school. My parents are at work all day, I don't know anyone here where I live, I have no friends ouside of school (well i do but they live far away). My neighborhood isn't that safe, I hang around the house all day, nothing to do at all but watch t.v., go on computer, eat, sleep, and drown my sorrows in feeling trapped all day everyday.

How can I bring mroe joy in life (I don't need friends outside of school), my parenst won't let any of their kids go anywhere without them, I don't need friends, I just want something to make me happy. I feel so depressed....my life is so boring and dreadful. Please give me good advice, I really need it.

Ouch.... ALot of people feel this way. And it won't help if I tell you it's probably a "phase" you are going through, but it might be the truth. In 41 years I've seen and been through alot of "phases", most of them slipped away in time and became just a bad memory. My only word of advice, one that I follow daily, is this: Remember something that gave you joy and know that eventually something else will come aliong just like that thing did and for a moment you will experence joy again and it will have been worth sticking around for....good luck

Ok i know your problem if you don't mind let me share joy to you by telling you a funny story.

this is the story i got it from the Internet to now i share it to you.

A guy came into a bar one day and said to barman "give me six double vodkas." The barman says, "wow! you must have had one hell of a day." "yes, i've just found out my older brother is gay."

The next day the same guy came into the bar and asked for the same drinks. when the bartender asked what the problem was today, the answer came back, "i've just found out that my younger brother is gay too!"

On the third day the guy came into the bar and ordered another six double vodkas. The bartender said: "jesus! doesn't anybody in your family like women?" "Yeah... My wife!"

That the gay family story... if you don't feel good E-mail me i have more funny story (rithsovan@yahoo.com)

I am so sorry you feel so bad about your life. Why don't you volunteer at your local hospital or animal shelter? That way, you will take the focus off yourself, and put it onto people who need help. You will always feel better when you help someone else. Also, it is a great way to meet new people and have new experiences.
I think the youngest you can be to volunteer at a hospital is 14..
Cheer up, life is not that bad!

Try volunteer work either at a hospital, local ASPCA, Boys and Girls Club of America, etc....every town has tons of places that are always in need of a friendly face to help out. You can make friends and contacts in the community while doing a service for those in need.

I used to love to read novels....Janet Evanovich is a good author you can try your library for some of her books.
I understand, my mom was always afraid I was going to hurt myself doing something so I wan't allowed to try out for anything...sports or ice skating whatever. I know our situations are different but hang in there....in my life when I thought things are bad, there's always something good going on you just have to try to identify it. I hope you're feeling better by the time you read this.

You sound like a person in touch with her feelings. Excellent first start. I encourage you to get in touch with the many hurting people around the world. I surfed into relationships in Haiti and Ghana. I've learned alot and according to them, made their lives more interesting. Try school/cultural/hunger/faith connections.

How old are you? Maybe need to be more independent....if you can? How about trying to take care of plants.....it's very therapeutic. Or how about taking care of pets? Cat? Fish?
No puppies ok.....those are a little bit more high maintenance. How about taking pictures? Poetry? Baking? Cooking? Reading poetry? How about studying hard in school so you can go to the college of your choice? I mean really study hard & apply yourself. Virtual pet? Maybe?
