tell them to kiss your a**. i think it is beautiful. you would have to file proper papers and go to court. there is no free way. let her decide when she gets of age and she can change it herself a lot cheaper because it will be her doing it. every one who cannot pronouce it will eventually learn and if not oh well, you can and as she grows and hears it enough she will too. when she starts school hopefully you will have a nickname for her to make you feel better. many teachers will call the child by a nickname thus fore so they are not picked on by their peers. start calling her anna or lisa and use her given name when you are really trying to get her attention and use a different tone in your voice to show you are serious. this is what i do with my 3 kids and it has worked for yrs. when i use thier given name like my oldes daughter her nick name is kait or kk but when i call her kaitlyn or kaitlyn danyle she listens and answers. you see her name is spelled funny and can be hard to pronouce also, but it is unique and it is hers and you should be proud of what yo named her,,,these days many people are giving their kids different names ,,your family will grow to change their mind...espically the more they grow to love her.-don't worry it will get easier.

Once you get a social security card or birth certificate, you have to go to court to change the name. There is no free way to do it. Even still when you go to court, you have to provide good reason for wanting to change her name..the judge could still decide that you don't have valid reasons for the name change..you could appeal if he/she ruled that way..but the bottom line is, you can NOT do this for free. you will have to go through the court system. Besides, I think it's a beautiful name, and who cares what other people think of her name anyway? If you are the mother, you chose her name because you liked it, that's YOUR choice!

No, you can't do it for free. A legal name change from the name on a birth certificate requires (in the United States) court action.

FWIW - I like the name too - but if you don't that's what counts.

I'm sorry, I don't know how to. But just out of curiousity, what is her original name? And why is it so difficult to deal with? Maybe you could prevent someone else from having the same problem.

I think we should be allowed to choose our own names. Give the child an alias and then let them decide when they get old enough.

I did, and I think her name is beautiful and you shouldn't change it. Tell your family to stop being rude!!!!! I think she will love it when she is older.
