I'm looking for clubs that have trios or quartets. Preferable piano/guitar/organ, bass, and drums. Thanks.

55 bar is great.

The Bluenote is a classic.

The Knitting Factory is a wonderful venue. They sometimes drift into rock and/or fusion, though.

Blue Note and Birdland, gotta check to see what trio or quartets are playing and to be honest you can catch the same trio at more affordable prices lol.. The Knitting Factory not the main floor thats a disaster..try the second floor or the office as they call it lol.. The Bottom Line Mike Stern plays there a lot.. and few other cool cats.. Iridium from Al Di'Meola to Earthworks, they all have played there, real nice club, but if you want a place in which some of the most experimental musicians get to play, nice small club, but packed with great trios, quartets you name it, I would say Detour..no cover charge, sometimes 5 bucks, man but some serious jazz going on there.. I can go on forever but you can check the Village Voice on the club section, you have pretty much every club and whos playing where...

Cheers and Good Luck

Jazz has replaced lots over the years.....Dixiland, massive Band, Bop challenging Bop Acid jazz, Fusion, this manner of excellent form of sub catagories. i think of a few people do in basic terms not purely like the vocabulary. whilst i exchange into little i could not pay attention it. Now i admire like Thelonious Miles all of it yet some extra beneficial than others...the large element approximately music is you're unfastened to dig what you dig....yet in basic terms considering you do not appreciate one form of vogue doesn;t mean it has no benefit. jazz like blues and r&b has inspired all different types. And different types are starting to be caught in formula from time to time additionally. maximum of what passes for Pop or rock (which i admire additionally)is fantastically predictable. nonetheless you will have a factor that as we communicate jazz does not look to have as many people writing completely new songs. standards look to return out of dad/Rock and then get taken care of. i'm getting that factor. perchance the subsequent wave of Jazz is in basic terms around the nook.

The Village Vanguard is the best of the major jazz clubs. It's small and very intimate. It's also a huge part of jazz history.
