Jerry Orbach from Law & Order had the same sunken in look & he died of cancer,is John sick b/c he sure look's like it....

I don't know if he's sick. Sometimes people just get frail as they age. He doesn't look healthy though.

He is just an elderly actor, plus, I'm sure the make up they put on him (not the drag queen make up) was done to make him look tired.
His partner was a sick man, so I'm sure the character would have been worried and sleep deprived.
If you look at photos of him, he doesn't look that bad for a man of almost 70.

His cheeks were kinda sunken but he is quite a few years older than when he played Fraiser's dad. Also he lost a bit of weight and was walking with the use of his cane.

I watched it, & I agree with you. He was a funky mess.
Whomever sung the song for him was great. I just know it wasn't
him singing. They really blew it with his looks. I don't think he's ill.
I think it was just f'd up make-up job. Even if it turns out he's sick,
it was a poor make-up job.

He does look like his left cheek bone has attrivied. Perhaps he had a palsy stroke of something.
