Mental abuse is something that isn't anything that should be toyed with but you will need proof of it as it's not an easy thing to prove to some courts.
Courts seem to be more prone to physical abuse because they can see it on your body but don't just let slide either because mental abuse can be like physical abuse in a lot of ways cause it can cause serious harm and in some cases even death too.
Physical abuse is something that all the courts should take very seriously now and not just sweep it under the rug anymore.

RE: Mental Abuse for court.
As far as i know from my own experience the best way for it to stand up in court is...... for you to be in therapy for it. You need to be seeing a psychiatrist or social worker of some sort that has documented what you have expressed. Remember life is like chess. Every move you make has to be backed up. Make sure you have proof Hun for court. If you don't then make sure you inquire about it tomorrow so u can protect your claim, your statement, your case and yourself. Good Luck.

It's tough. I was in an abusive marriage for 9 years & the cops would only see the physical damage, when the emotional damage was much worse. I've been out for 5 years & still have occasional nightmares. Get a therapist if you don't already have one.

physical abuse is easier to prove...hospital reports, pictures, bruises, ect... mental abuse is VERY hard to prove. need psych docs and a lot of specialists. If you can arrange all the evidence than go for it all but be careful...
I am a family counselor, and work with child protective services on a regular basis....

Yes, as long as you have it documented, keeping a diary helps, and seeing your physcian. Mental abuse is sometimes worse than physical abuse. good luck.

What do you mean "stand-up" in court? What type of case? What state?
Without the answers to those questions, it's impossible to answer your questions.

if you have medical records, are under the care of a physician, or on medication you can prove it to a point, but keep your butt off the stand it will only make it worse, the lawyers will rip you apart.
